Term 1

English

We have enjoyed correcting sentences and writing our own sentences, in English. We have been improving our writing by remembering the key things we need to include, such as capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. We have enjoyed practising these skills and making our sentences clearer and easier to read. The children have also been practising their letter formation during handwriting and focusing on the position of letters.

Maths

In Maths, we have been developing our number recognition skills, focusing on recognising numbers up to 20 and finding one more than a given number. The children have enjoyed exploring these concepts through a variety of interactive activities, including the use of technology and fun number songs. Science These activities have helped to make our learning engaging and enjoyable while building the children’s confidence with numbers.

Science

Science has been very exciting as we have been learning about different materials and exploring what everyday objects are made from. The children have enjoyed investigating our outdoor environment and discovering a variety of natural items. As a class, we discussed the different textures we could feel and talked about what the objects were made from. This hands-on exploration encouraged the children to use their senses, make observations and develop their understanding of the world around them.

History

During History lessons, we have been learning about childhood in the past. We looked at toys that children played with a long time ago and compared them with the toys we play with today. Some toys are different because children in the past often played with simple toys made from wood, cloth or metal, whereas today we have toys made from plastic and many toys that use batteries. However, we also found some similarities because children in the past enjoyed playing with dolls, balls and toy animals, just like many children do today. It was fun and interesting to find out how toys have changed over time and how some toys have stayed the same!

Spanish

In Spanish, we have been learning different greetings and practising how to use them when speaking to others. The children have enjoyed developing their confidence by performing the greetings in front of their classmates. This has encouraged them to listen carefully, practise their pronunciation and become more confident when speaking Spanish.

PE

The children have been developing their running skills through our PE sessions. We are focusing on the importance of keeping a safe space between each other and being aware of their surroundings as they move. This has helped them to build confidence, coordination and spatial awareness.

In gymnastics, we have been exploring lots of different ways to move our bodies, including crawling, balancing, running, jumping and wiggling! The children have enjoyed experimenting with different movements while developing their balance, coordination and body control.
