ADHD
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a condition that affects people’s behaviour. People with ADHD can seem restless, may have trouble concentrating and may act on impulse.
Some ways that you can support your child at home:
- Clear, consistent boundaries and routines. For example, a consistent bedtime routine that involves no screen time for at least one hour before bed.
- Maintain a balanced diet with very little added sugar.
- Lots of exercise and stimulation throughout the day, particularly exercise outside.
- Use clocks and timers to help them stay focussed on a set task such as getting changed.
- Do homework in shorter bursts rather than one long session.
- Pictures to prompt them for what they need to do and in what order in the morning.
- May want to consider a Paediatric referral, speak to the SENCo if you would like to know more about this.
