Dog visit to Spanish Bulls - 19th October 2018
Fri 19 Oct 2018Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed having a dog visit on the last day of term to conclude their topic of paws, claws and whiskers. The owner visited the school with her two dogs and demonstrated some of the skills and tricks that the dogs could do and explained how to look after them. The children thought of questions to ask to extend their knowledge of dogs and watched how the dogs interacted and cooperated with the owner. They also saw how the dogs persevered to do different tricks which linked into our Jubilee University focus. This was a very enjoyable and memorable experience for the children.

African Elephants Immersive Day - 21st September 2018
Wed 03 Oct 2018On Friday 21st September, African Elephants experienced an Anglo Saxon and Viking immersive morning. We learned about the art of sword fighting and how the Anglo Saxons and Vikings formed their warriors into an army. We then looked at how the Anglo Saxons and Vikings spent their time and we tried our hand at making butter, flour [from grinding seed], making sparks by rubbing flints together and playing board games. It was an amazing experience and really brought our topic to life.

Spring Sports Day - 26th March 2018
Thu 29 Mar 2018Predicting the weather in Britain is so hard so when we saw a gap in the rain, we decided it was time to hold our winter sports day! The children had such a wonderful time and completely threw themselves into every activity. From welly throwing (Mrs Allen was very sorry she missed that) to hockey matches, it was a very successful sports day. Even French Hares broke out into a dance! -
World Book Day - Thursday 8th March
Mon 12 Mar 2018The children all had a wonderful time on Thursday for our World Book Day. Thank you to all the parents who pulled out the stops with their child's outfits, I'm sure you'll agree from the pictures that they all looked super! They even took the time to go to other classes and share some books with the younger children.

Multi Skills Challenge
Fri 26 Jan 2018On Tuesday 23rd January some children from French Hares and Italian Ibex went to Greenfields Community School to compete against other schools in different multi-skills. The skills included: balance, agility, speed, accuracy and team work. There were a range of different activities that the children had to complete and were given a score for, including: balancing on a beam, a relay race, bowling and scoring a goal in hockey. Many of the activities were timed and so the children were under lots of pressure but they kept up their team spirit and team work at all times. The children represented the school impeccably; they should be very proud of themselves!
