  • Maidstone Dance Festival

    Thu 20 Jun 2019
Jubilee Primary School pioneered the first ever Maidstone Dance Festival this year and it was a great success. There were 150 children from different local primary schools who worked hard to produce fantastic dance performances. The atmosphere was wonderful and children thoroughly enjoyed participating. We had excellent feedback from other schools saying that they would love to be a part of the festival again next year. We had three fantastic judges, one of them being Mandy Ellen, who provided huge support to us and the children were inspired by her dancers. Well done to all the fantastic Jubilee dancers that represented our school so well.
  • Key Stage 1 Cricket at Greenfields

Fri 05 Apr 2019 Miss Liddicoat

On Wednesday the 3rd April, a team from year 2 attended the Kent Teach, Rapid Fire Cricket festival, at Greenfields Primary School. The team worked hard prior to the event, practising their batting and fielding skills with Mr Faulkner at lunchtime. This prior preparation was evident during the event as the team worked extremely hard, accumulating 213 runs and winning their group stages by a mile. The final resulted in a battle between JPS and the hosts, with JPS scoring a respectable 69 runs, which in turn crowned them winners of the festival!

A very big thank you to Mr Faulkner for some excellent pre-coaching and to Mrs Kneller, who again, volunteered to support us at the event.

Well done to all who took part and for showing outstanding sportsmanship throughout the event. They were a delight to watch and excellent role models for the school.

    Wed 27 Mar 2019

On Tuesday 19th March, 3 mixed teams from Years 3 and 4 attended a 'Quick Sticks' Hockey tournament at Maidstone Hockey Club. The teams had worked hard during their lunch times to improve their game and this was evident at the tournament. Our teams, for identification purposes only were named Jubilee A, B and C.

All three teams displayed fantastic sportsmanship throughout the event and were congratulated by many of the spectators for their behaviour and fair play.

    Results out of 16 teams:

    Jubilee A - 8th POM, Maisie F

    Jubilee B - 12th and POM, Joshua E

    Jubilee C - 14th and POM, Aryan

    Wed 20 Mar 2019

On Wednesday 20th March the English Lions parents were invited to join their children for lunch.

It was wonderful to see so many parents come along to this event. An enjoyable time was had by all.

  • Dojo Winners High Tea – 12th March

    Fri 15 Mar 2019

The children with the most Dojo points from each class from Term 3 were invited to High Tea with Mrs Nadesan on Tuesday 12th March.

A very big well done to all of these children. What a fantastic achievement!

  • World Book Day - Wednesday 6th March

    Wed 06 Mar 2019

Evidence shows that children who read, or are read to, develop a broader vocabulary, increased general knowledge and a better understanding of other cultures. This is the reason for reading being given such importance here at Jubilee Primary School. We celebrated World Book Day with a whole range of activities around reading!

Throughout the week we had a book fair in school, which provided parents with the opportunity of purchasing books for their children and raising money for the school at the same time. This was a huge success so please look out for information on exactly how much we raised to spend on books for our school!

We also had a visit from local author, Nicola Parkhouse. She discussed how we can achieve our dreams if we work hard and believe in ourselves. She read us her stories and inspired our own creativity.

We also took part in a whole school project. The school were introduced to the story of ‘The Tin Forest’ by Helen Ward. This is an interesting story about dreams and making the best out of what you have. We began by inferring meaning from just the front cover. We then took this and wrote our own blurb about what the book could be. The children enjoyed studying this book and created some wonderful writing from this fantastic stimulus. The school also took part in a whole school art project. We created our very own tin forest with each class contributing to a part of it. See our fantastic work on display in the school!

Finally, we all dressed up as our favourite book characters. With two book fair vouchers up for grabs, it was extremely difficult to judge as there were so many fantastic costumes! Well done to our class winners Nina, Amelia, George and Joshua. Congratulations to our overall winners Rose and Wingzee for their wonderful ‘Aslan’ and ‘Miss Trunchball’ costumes.

  • African Elephants Trip to Battle Abbey - 28th February

    Thu 28 Feb 2019

African Elephants had an exciting (although wet!) day at Battle Abbey in Battle, Hastings.  Alongside our topic of ‘1066’ we visited the site, where an Abbey was built by William the Conqueror to commemorate the death of King Harold and many men in the famous battle of Hastings. We took in all of the beautiful sights that this venue had to offer whilst touring the buildings, many of which are now in ruin.  We stood on the exact spot where King Harold was killed! At the top of the battlefield we looked down the hill towards where William would have stood with his well thought out formation. We re-enacted our own battle, some of us took the roll as the Normans whilst others were the Saxons. We were given shields, similar to the ones that would have been used. The equipment between the two sides were extremely different. The Saxons produced a shield wall, whereas the Normans’ shields were designed more for those on horseback.  We even got to sample some of the extremely heavy armour!

  • Science - Exploring weather changes

    Wed 06 Feb 2019
Year 1 enjoyed working on an experiment to see how they could feel the wind. They experimented with holding card and moving at different speeds to feel the wind against the card and observed bubbles blowing in different directions.

  • Heroes and Villains - Canadian Bears

    Wed 30 Jan 2019

As part of Heroes and Villains topic, we have been exploring the concept of an ‘unsung hero.’ We invited Mrs Schofield in to talk to us about her job. We often associate jobs such as a firefighter or a police officer as someone that is a hero, but we believe, anyone is a hero in their own right! We all have our own ‘special powers.’ Mrs Schofield is an unsung hero for the amazing work she does with unwell children.

Here are some of our thoughts on other ‘unsung’ heroes:

“My Mum, because she cares for me”

“I think that a vet is important because they help animals and animals are just as important as people!” – Nolly

“A Teacher because they help us grow our brains which means we can get good jobs when we are older” – Mckenzi

“A food shop assistant, because if they didn’t work in the shop to sell us our food we would be hungry” – Ashirya

“A childminder is an unsung hero because they look after you when your Mum or Dad have to go to work” - Scarlett

  • Jubilee University - Italian Ibex

    Fri 18 Jan 2019

Italian Ibex spent Jubilee University Week considering what they would like to be when they grow up. The children showed a great understanding of the steps they need to take to achieve their goals. On Tuesday, we spent the day exploring the concept of ‘Growth Mindset’, and we learned about the struggles some very successful people, such as Albert Einstein, went through before accomplishing their ambitions.

We had great fun when set the task of ‘rescuing’ every member of our team and crossing ‘the river’ (school playground). We could only use a skipping rope and two ‘lily pads’ and only one person at a time could balance on them. This required lots of patience, team-work and lateral thinking!

During the week Italian Ibex were extremely lucky to be visited by local professionals each day. We spoke to policemen and women, a musician, an artist, business people and even two scientists who gave each of us a small piece of strawberry DNA to take home!

The highlight of our week was becoming teachers for the day. Miss Birkby was so proud of Italian Ibex for the consideration and preparation that went into their maths lessons for Spanish Bulls. The children planned and delivered their lessons thoughtfully and were amazing teachers and role models!

Well done Italian Ibex for all your hard work this week. We have really explored the working world. I hope you achieve your dreams.
